Louisburg is a city located in Eastern Kansas. It is situated in Miami County and had a population of approximately 4,328 people in 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau. The city is located about 40 miles south of Kansas City, Missouri, and about 80 miles southeast of Topeka, Kansas.
Louisburg is located in an area that was reserved for various Native American tribes who ceded their lands to the United States government. The tribes which settled in the area were Peoria, Wea, Piankeshaw, and Kaskaskia. In the mid-1800s, traders and missionaries of European descent began visiting the area and established communities. After the organization of Kansas and the outbreak of the Civil War, the tribes were stripped of their land rights and the land was sold to American settlers. After these settlers moved into the area a community was established and named Little St. Louis. The community was renamed Louisburg in 1870 and became incorporated as a city in 1882.

Baseball fields, a community center, the Louisburg Cider Mill, Louisburg Library, various restaurants, and much more are located throughout the city. Louisburg is also home to several schools and churches. Many outdoor recreational opportunities are located within a short distance of Louisburg as well. Middle Creek Lake is located 8 miles south of Louisburg. Individuals who visit the lake are encouraged to camp, fish, swim, and boat.
